Bucks host OCFC / AFC host Ann Arbor in double Milk Cup finals Tuesday and Wednesday evenings

Flint, Mich. — The Flint City Bucks and newly formed women’s side Flint City AFC will host Michigan Milk Cup championship matches on consecutive evenings this week.

The Bucks play 7 p.m. Tuesday, with AFC to follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday. For both matches, Kettering’s historic Atwood Stadium will open at 6 p.m., an hour before kickoff.

The Milk Cup is a single-elimination tournament sponsored by the United Dairy Industry of Michigan, featuring semi-pro and amateur teams from top leagues across the state.

7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5: Flint City Bucks vs. Oakland County FC

The Bucks shared the Milk Cup Championship with Oakland County FC in 2019, the last time the event took place, after the final was canceled due to inclement weather. The pandemic scrapped the next two tournament iterations. Three years later, it’s finally time to settle things.

Flint City reached this year’s championship game by defeating the Midwest Premier League’s powerhouse, BiH Grand Rapids 4-0 on June 20 at Linden Stadium. Jelldrik Dallmann and Aedon Kyra each had a goal and an assist; Lachlan Hepburn and Abdel Kuku also scored.

In the other semifinal, Oakland County defeated the MWPL’s Inter Detroit 1-0.  This match doubles as a pivotal USL League Two divisional contest with significant playoff implications.

Tuesday’s tickets will be available at the stadium gates or at www.ticketmaster.com

7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6: Flint City AFC vs. AFC Ann Arbor - added to schedule

Flint City AFC reached the tourney final after a thrilling 4-4 tie with Midwest United FC that was eventually settled in a penalty shootout on Friday, June 24, at Kettering’s Atwood Stadium. Abby Werthman, Jaden Frigerio, Remini Tillotson, and Justina Gaynor each scored for Flint in regulation.

In the other semifinal, AFC Ann Arbor defeated Kalamazoo FC 3-1.  The inaugural women’s Milk Cup went to Motor City FC in 2019. This year's four competitors were all from the Great Lakes Division of the newly formed USL W League.

Tickets for this special match will be available at the stadium gates or at www.eventbrite.com. AFC season ticket holders and sponsors will be on a guest list and will not require physical tickets.
