Forward scored seven goals for the Michigan Wolverines last fall

FLINT, Mich. — Flint City AFC has re-signed University of Michigan junior Sammi Woods for the upcoming USL W League season, pending league and federation approval.

The forward from Saline, Michigan, scored seven goals and assisted another in her third season with the Wolverines — bringing her career totals to 16 goals and eight assists.

Woods scored the match-opening goal for Flint City in last summer’s Michigan Milk Cup title game at Kettering University’s Atwood Stadium versus AFC Ann Arbor.

“Sammi is a tremendous finisher in and around the box.  She is a forward who will challenge defenders with her ability to get in behind the back line and dazzle our supporters with her 1 v 1 skills.” - Head Coach Michele Krzisnik

In fall 2021, she helped her Michigan squad reach the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the third time in program history, with the Wolverines then falling to No. 1 Florida State.

Woods played all 25 matches her sophomore season, starting 10. She finished second on the team with five goals, as well as third on the team with four assists.

As a freshman, Woods earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors, racking up four goals and three assists over 11 matches despite starting just three of those games.

In her youth, she was a four-time team captain with Michigan Hawks. In two seasons, she helped guide her teams to the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) playoffs. In 2019, her side reached the national championship game. IN the previous year, she scored a whopping 24 goals to break into the top 10 among U.S. Development Academy players across the country.
